Lords Wines began as a corporate gifting business and was started by Jonathan Lord nearly 10 years ago. From the outset Lords Wines quickly gained a reputation for being efficient, competitive and a pleasure to deal with. Jon recognised that many wine and hamper companies offered gifts with very traditional, limited appeal and established the ethos of looking for exciting wines and foods for the gift range.
Jon's interest in wine started at university and he has developed this interest over the years through frequent visits to vineyards around Europe where he began to refine the tastes that had driven the wine drinking of his early twenties. He acknowledges that he is very fortunate to be able to combine one of his main interests in life with his work! His belief that work should be fulfilling and a challenge to be enjoyed characterises the outlook of the business as he looks for it to build on its promising start and consolidate its growing reputation as a leading supplier of wine, champagne and hampers gifts in the UK.
Ben Cahill, the chief Wine and Champagne Buyer, joined the business in 2004 and has been responsible for keeping the range of gifts invigorated. He has over 10 years' experience in the wine trade, and has worked for a couple of leading independent UK suppliers as well as enjoying a lengthy period as a wine buyer in the South of France, during which time he consolidated his understanding of the intricacies of wine production and made invaluable contacts with many of the most forward-looking wine makers in the region. He is a genuine wine afficionado, with an unashamed appreciation of fine wine and an impressive knowledge of wines from around the world. At the wine tastings we run for clients here in the North West, he is an engaging, informed speaker whose enthusiasm for wine is infectious. Ben has worked hard to ensure that the wine, champagne and hamper gift range features some of the rising stars of the wine world.
