CHILE - MAULE

KINTU

The Kintu wines come from the beautiful Maule valley where the low high and plains have been so important for the growth of viticulture over the past 200 years. These approachable varietals have an easy-drinking style popular in the UK and are excellent value so should be considered for inclusion in the entry level sections of most wine lists.

Maule benefits from a cooling ocean breeze and misty mornings that help the grapes to maintain their natural acidity whilst attaining full ripeness. Since the land is easy to farm and labour costs in Chile are relatively low, the Kintu wines are commercially attractive and worth consideration for inclusion in the entry level section on any wine list. Both wines are attractively presented with a screwtop enclosure, making them perfect for restaurants wishing to offer customers wine by the glass.

Kintu Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Crisply dry, rounded tropical fruit with a big dash of zippy green gooseberry and ripe lemon. This is a brilliant, popular wine happy to punch way above its competitive price point.

Kintu Chardonnay 2009

A lively, full flavoured chardonnay with fresh melon and apple flavours on the palate and an invigorating finish.

Kintu Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Soft and juicy with a pleasing combination of dark cherry and ripe cassis fruit flavours, the Kintu Cabernet Sauvignon is extremely smooth and approachable. With a modest 12% alcohol this is a great quaffing wine and of course is eminently suitable as a partner for most food dishes.

Kintu Merlot 2009

Smooth and easy drinking with ripe plum and red berry flavours.
