FRANCE - BURGUNDY DOMAINE TREMBLAY ............................................................................................................ ......www.chablis-tremblay.com Domaine Tremblay is a 34 hectare family-run estate occupying prime sites in the Chablis region of Burgundy. The domaine has 10 hectares in the Premier Cru appellation and also owns a small parcel of land within the Grand Cru Vaudesir. Winemaker Gerard Tremblay is highly regarded and produces Chablis in the classic bone-dry style. At each level the wines of Domaine Tremblay are expressive of the various terroirs but all have a common theme of minerality and finesse. The entry level Chablis has a compelling chalkiness so vital to the wines of this region and offers superb value for money in an area not really noted for bargains! The Premier Crus of Fourchaume and Montmains possess more complexity and flesh and are regular stars at the grand wine competitions. Production of the magnificent Vaudesir is limited to just over 200 cases and it remains a benchmark of Chablis.

Chablis 2008 The Tremblay Chablis is a beautiful wine for its class, offering slightly austere, reserved, stony scents followed by light to barely medium weight, crisp, detailed flavours that carry plenty of flavor authority, all supported by bright, tangy yet ripe finishing acidity and fine persistence. |

Chablis Premier Cru Montmains 2006 The forty-year-old vines in the Montmains vineyard contribute to the extra weight in this wine. 30% of the wine is aged in futs de chene to produce a fine wine with a profound mineral nose, deceptive weight and a lingering finish. The domain has a superb new winery with the facilities to enable the winemakers to bring out the quality of the fruit that these famous vineyards produce. |

Chablis Premier Cru Fourchaume 2006 The nose and mouth are charmed by honey and white flower flavours, with a very great persistence and length in the mouth. This 100% Chardonnay comes from vines between 10 and 40 years old. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel and aged in the barrel. |

Chablis Grand Cru Vaudesir 2005 The Vaudesir climate is divided into two parts by the track called 'le chemin des Vaudesirs'. It has a double orientation, as roughly half of its vines face due south, while the remainder face south-west. Very steep in places, its soil type seems lighter than most and contains less lime. This increasing 'earthiness' tends to mark the wines with subtle flavours. Will age beautifully but can be drunk young if one is looking for crispness. |
