The largest producer in NSW's Hastings River region, Cassegrain Wines recognises the importance of terroir in determining grape characteristics and, as such, selects the best fruit from other wine regions to support its own impressive vineyard production,

Committed to sourcing varieties from where they grow best, Cassegrain Wines leads the way in showcasing what new and emerging regions have to offer consumers. This is typified by the winery being the first commercial producer in Australia of Chambourcin, a grape identified as being ideally suited to the Hastings River location. Cassegrain continues to be one of the few producers of this rare variety.

Fromenteau (Chardonnay) 2005

This impressive wine is delicate lemon in colour with a dazzling golden hue. The bouquet is appealing, offering generous aromas of ripe fig, cinnamon spiced apple and honeydew melon.

The luxurious palate is opulent and rich, delivering a focused core of creamy pear and white fleshed peaches entwined with a subtle kiss of buttery oak that lingers on the lengthy mineral finish.

Falerne (Merlot / Cabernet / Durif / Tempranillo) 2005

This ménage a quartet is deep ruby red in colour with a crimson hue. Generous aromas of blackberries, star anise and violets intoxicate the senses.

The palate is rich, dense and focused with a mouthful of blood plum, blueberry and sweet cinnamon spices. Soft, sexy and juicy tannins coat the mouth and lead to a lingering finish.

Reserve Shiraz 2005

This elegant wine is dark crimson in colour with a dazzling violet hue. Aromas of black cherries, cassis, and rich dark chocolate mingle seductively on the nose.

The silky smooth palate has mouthfilling flavours of ripe blood plums, mocha and blackberries, laced with an explosion of sweet vanillan oak.
